The San Bernardino County Economic Development Department garnered three awards for its exceptional contributions. These include recognition for its outstanding work in the film industry, microbusiness COVID relief efforts, and international trade. The county’s public service projects and programs earned 160 Achievement Awards in NACo’s 2023 program. These awards span various domains, encompassing emergency response, homeless services, healthcare, social services, public safety, animal care, recreation and culture, transportation, services for children and seniors, public information, management of public funds, and economic development. This comprehensive recognition reflects the county’s commitment to serving its residents holistically.
The Achievement Awards honored several remarkable initiatives undertaken by San Bernardino County. These include the Curtain of Courage memorial dedicated to the victims of the December 2, 2015, terrorist attack, the redesigned county website for improved accessibility, enhancements to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, the DocuPet Animal Care program, the county’s diversity program, the annual Point-in-Time Count to address homelessness, and efforts to attract the film industry to the region’s diverse filming locations. Each of these initiatives exemplifies the county’s focus on providing essential services and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
