The University of California Riverside (UCR) Office of Technology Partnerships has opened the door to a groundbreaking opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Inland Empire region. The OASIS Sustainability Challenge, fueled by a generous grant from the Irvine Foundation, is offering $100,000 in grants to early-stage sustainability-focused startups and small businesses.
The OASIS Sustainability Challenge is designed to propel innovative ideas in various sectors toward commercialization. Entrepreneurs in Riverside and San Bernardino counties are encouraged to apply, with a focus on sustainability solutions in critical areas such as sustainable transportation and logistics, energy generation and storage, air quality improvement, and more.
This challenge isn’t just about funding; it’s about making a significant impact. The challenge will award up to $40,000 to two winners and $20,000 to a semifinalist. These funds can be instrumental in crucial business aspects, from prototyping and testing to securing intellectual property protection.
Winning entrepreneurs will benefit from a partnership with the UCR EPIC Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Seasoned business mentors from SBDC will guide grant recipients, helping them craft effective go-to-market strategies, connect with potential customers, and explore additional funding opportunities.
The OASIS Sustainability Challenge isn’t just about financial support; it’s about making a real difference. Selected grant recipients will get the chance to showcase their innovations at the UCR EPIC Innovation Showcase during Innovation Month in April 2024, further expanding their reach and impact.
